Notebook

A conversation with an assistant ends and everything in it goes with it. The notebook is where you keep the bits worth carrying forward: save the thread of a problem under a name in one chat, and pick it up in another.

It is most useful for the thing that happens constantly — you are doing one job, notice a second, and have nowhere to put it. Park it as a note and come back to it in its own conversation.

Saving a note

In any AI client connected to your MFICore account (see Account → AI access), type:

/add-note chamuel-cert-renewal

The assistant writes a summary of what you have been discussing, shows it to you, and saves it once you agree. You can also say what to capture — /add-note deploy-bug the part about the DNS challenge — if the whole conversation is not what you want.

Pick a name you will recognise later. It is what you type to load it.

Loading one

/load-note chamuel-cert-renewal

The assistant reads the note and brings you up to speed. /load-note with no name lists what you have.

If the note has links attached — a site, a workflow, a run — the assistant re-checks those against what is live now and tells you where the note and reality have drifted apart. A note records what was true when it was written, not what is true today.

Notes grow

Saving to a name that already exists adds a dated entry rather than replacing what is there, so a note becomes the history of a problem: what it was, what you tried, where it stands. Ask for the note to be replaced instead if you are correcting it rather than continuing it.

A very long note eventually drops its oldest entries to stay within its size limit, and says so when it does.

This page

The notebook page lists what you have saved. Its main job is being where you find the name of a note — each row shows the exact /load-note line to use elsewhere, with a copy button. You can also edit a note's text directly, retag it, or remove one.

Removing is permanent: no undo, and no copy kept.

The assistant here reads them too

MFICore's own assistant (Assistants → Chat) can read the same notes. Ask it what you decided about something, or to catch you up on a piece of work, and it will look.

Sharing

Notes are yours. Someone else sees them only if you grant it under Account → Delegation — View notebook to read, Manage notebook to write and remove. You can grant either to a person or to a whole team.

Tagging a note with a site does not share it with that site's collaborators; the tag is only for filtering and finding.

A word on trust

A note is written by an assistant summarising a conversation, and that conversation may have included text from places you do not control — a web page it read, a form someone submitted. When a note is loaded into a later conversation, the assistant treats its contents as notes to read, never as instructions to follow. That is deliberate, and it is why a note cannot be used to make your assistant do something on someone else's behalf.
